The city of Florence was the protagonist of the 2011 edition with more than 150 events including conventions, concerts, theatre performances, conferences, workshops and exhibitions. For five days and one long night – the Blue Night – a pretty big billboard packed with initiatives for everyone's taste captivated citizens from all over Europe and around the world who met in Florence to debate about the Union. Three pavilions – the Europe Pavilion, the Pavilion of Nations and the one dedicated to the Italian launch of the campaign Youth On The Move wanting to encourage mobility of young Europeans – transformed Piazza della Signoria into Europe Village, the liveliest place on the old continent, where it was possible to gather information about opportunities in the European Union and participate in performances by European artists in the most picturesque corner of Florence: the Loggia dei Lanzi painted in blue, the official colour of Europe.
