Appreciation of culture has always been one of the main callings of the city of Florence. Culture as an identity expression, culture as a citizenship expression, culture as a diversity value: a fundamental piece of the cultural mosaic of Europe.
An afternoon is expected to be dedicated to a meeting on the topic of contemporary Prehistory through the speeches by Maria Bernabò Brea, a prehistoric biologist, and Carlo Sisi, an art historian, with the greeting by Leonardo Bieber, President of the Commission for Culture of the Florence Council
The film night (6th May 2013 from 8pm to 10pm) will try to give an overview of the EU contribution to cinematographic art and to celebrate iconic moments of the film history. Structured around a specific genre or theme, the scenes from different films will be projected in order to demonstrate how a theme is dealt with across diverse periods and cultures.
The conference (8th May 2013 from 6pm to 7pm), assisted by a European Studies academic, will give the audience an opportunity to reflect on how different cultures understand each other.
